Come with us on a field trip to Sahd Metal Recycling for our first crossover edition of Carbon Neutral Coffee!
We’re bridging the Lancaster and York meetups to host a single, joint CNC that brings both sides of the river together around our shared natural resource – the mighty Susquehanna.
Join us for an in-person tour of Sahd Metal Recycling and see a circular supply chain in action!
This special Carbon Neutral Coffee brings York and Lancaster county business leaders together for a morning at Sahd’s recycling facilities in Columbia.
We will begin with networking alongside coffee & pastries provided by Commons Company. The Sahd team will then lead a tour of their facility, showing how metal recycling sits at both the end and the beginning of the industrial supply chain.
For Sahd, sustainability is about the opportunities they create for their team, their community, and the environment. This tour offers a firsthand look at how that plays out across their operation.
Whether you work in manufacturing, sustainability, or economic development, or you are simply curious about the systems that keep our region running, you will leave with a fuller understanding of how a circular supply chain works in Lancaster County.
About Sahd Metal Recycling
Sahd became an industry leader in making metal recycling more sustainable when they began spearheading green initiatives in the 1970’s and 80’s. Founded in 1941, the company first operated as a humble scrap metal business out of the garage of Frank and Lucille Sahd’s home on Locust Street in Columbia.
As family members joined and the business began expanding, Sahd moved to its current location at 1045 Lancaster Avenue with a focus on metal recycling. As generations grew, so did the company’s root values of environmental stewardship, supporting their community, customer accessibility, and treating everyone with fairness and honesty.
Now, beyond their metal recycling services, Sahd also provides free educational resources on recycling, hosts community events such as Go Green in Columbia, and offers scrap yard tours to show students how they can positively impact their environment and community.
They help power our community through their partnership with LCSWMA’s Waste-To-Energy Facility, invest in future generations of skilled trade professionals through their training programs, and model grounded solutions for industries who might not see themselves represented in climate action planning.
